"The
African Family Reunion" will bring together more than 20 countries
and over 200 leaders,
government members, cultural groups, youth, women, entrepreneurs, and an
endless number of citizens who just want to meet in order to reaffirm their
identity, to network and unify strategies to protect the basic fundamental
rights and economic agenda for African descendants from the Diaspora.
The United Nations
General Assembly adopted resolution 64/169 by consensus on December 18, 2009, proclaiming
the year 2011, the
International Year for People
of African Descent (lYPAD) "The African Family Reunion"
organized by Afroamerica XXI is the most important event in the
Americas to commemorate this resolution.
